Dan female mask from Ivory Coast early 20th century African design

Description

This mask was made at the beginning of the 20th century by the Dan ethnic group from Côte d'Ivoire. The specificity of the Dan masks, they are carved in a very black hardwood and have a smooth finish: polished using tree leaves. Round eyes are synonymous with a feminine mask.

A piece steeped in history to place in your interior. It comes from a private collection in the south of France.

Note: the base is sold with the mask.
