André Sornay Wardrobe beech and lacquer – French Modernist Design, 1960s
This wardrobe was designed in the 1960s by the renowned cabinetmaker and designer from Lyon, André Sornay. It perfectly illustrates the modernist and functional aesthetic that characterizes his work, as well as his famous patented “tigette” assembly system, ensuring both strength and precision in construction (the system is visible on the back of the piece).
Crafted with a beechwood structure and lacquered panels, this wardrobe stands out for the purity of its lines and its understated elegance. Its minimalist design reflects the search for furniture that is both practical, modular, and timeless, typical of postwar French design.
The interior offers a vertical storage space ideal for coats and clothing, making it perfectly suited for an entryway, hallway, or bedroom. Additional shelves complete the ensemble.
Both understated and refined, this wardrobe blends effortlessly into contemporary, modernist, or vintage interiors. A beautiful example of 1960s French design, appreciated for the quality of its craftsmanship and the signature of André Sornay.
