Andre Sornay storage cabinet in mahogany and lacquered front 1960
This storage cabinet was designed in the 1960s by the renowned cabinetmaker and designer from Lyon, André Sornay. It perfectly reflects the modernist and functional aesthetic for which the designer became famous, notably through his patented “tigette” assembly system, showcased in the precision and refinement of its construction.
Crafted with a mahogany structure in warm tones and lacquered panels, the cabinet stands out for the harmony of its materials and the understated elegance of its clean lines. The two sliding front doors open onto a practical storage space fitted with shelves, offering an ideal solution for organizing books, tableware, linens, or everyday objects.
Its openwork base adds both lightness and originality to the overall design while highlighting the refined craftsmanship of the piece. Thanks to its timeless and minimalist aesthetic, this cabinet can easily find its place in an entryway, living room, office, or bedroom, blending naturally into both contemporary and vintage interiors.
A beautiful example of 1960s French design, combining functionality, elegance, and the distinctive craftsmanship of André Sornay.
