Andre Sornay furniture

GALERIE 44 is very fond of the avant-garde vision of functionality by André Sornay and is constantly looking for pieces produced between 1950 and 1960 by the Sornay company. Year after year, the famous cabinet worker from Lyon has patented his functional and quick « tigette » mounting system. He became the forerunner of « in kit » furniture and adapted his system to collective furniture. You will find a complete selection following the acquisition of an important private collection of more than 100 pieces. Unique models, or produced in series, each piece is restored by our craftsmen and art partners. Seatings

We bet you’ll find yourself at ease in our seats. Chairs, armchairs, fireside chairs, office chairs, stools, sofas and daybeds hunted throughout the world and restored by our partner upholsterer Christian. Within our selection, you’ll discover iconic pieces from American designers like Charles & Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, Warren Platner or Florence Knoll, but also French designers like Pierre Guariche, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Paulin, Joseph André Motte or Pierre Chapo. Without forgetting our Italian friends like Marco Zanuso, Franco Albini or Osvaldo Borsani. Thanks to them, sitting down will never be like before…

Furniture

Furniture from « previous decades upgraded to today’s taste». That’s exactly what you will find here: pieces filled with history, unique and weathered through time. In solid wood, in brass or marble, discover our selection of suites, buffets, coffee tables, shelves, libraries, dinner tables, night tables or desks. So many artworks signed by the greatest designers of the 20th century such as Charles & Ray Eames, Olavi Hanninen, Pierre Chapo, Willy Guhl, André Simard or again Joseph Andre Motte.

Lighting

Lighting sublimes an interior. To play with chiaroscuro, here is our selection of lamp poles, tables lamps, wall lamps, suspensions, ceiling lights or chandeliers. In brass or chrome, but also displaying beautiful lampshades made by Marie our light architecture. You will spot among others, pieces from famous designers such as Stilnovo, Bernard-Albin Gras, Georges Houillon, Max Sauze, Gae Aulenti, Isamu Noguchi even Louis Kalff.

Accessories

The final touche of your interior is surely in this category.
